                                              from Classic to Modern

The two seater 4/4 1600 sports car was subject to further changes in May 1993 in order to enhance its performance.

The Ford 1597 cc, CVH engine, fitted with electronic fuel ignition, was now replaced by a Ford 1796 cc, 4-cylinder, 16 valve, Zetec engine, linked to a Ford five speed gearbox.

Power was now increased from 100 to 114 bhp at 5750 rpm, which produced a top speed of 111 mph, and 0-60 in 7.8 secs.

Production of this variant ended in 2006.

Four seater 4/4's were popular throughout the 1970's, and into the 1980's, when their popularity began to wane.

By the late 1980's, it was only the UK market that maintained the tradition.

It was for this reason that only a two seater 4/4 1800 was introduced in 1993.

However, in 1999, in order to retest the market, a four seater 4/4 1800, with rear bucket seats, made its appearance.

Sadly, market research did not come up to expectations, and the model was discontinued two years alter.

The final variant of the 4/4 1800 was introduced in 2006, when the 1796 cc Zetec engine was replaced by an all aluminium Ford 1798 cc, 16 valve, Duratec unit, which developed 125 bhp.

Production of this variant ended in 2009.
